“You cannot teach a person anything; you can only help them find it within themselves”
Galileo Galilei (1564–1642)
About the Work

Our book, The Unity of Being, is an intense summation of some of the most important knowledges concerning Beliefs & Spirituality, found in varying degrees within all serious belief systems.
Here they are, as far as possible, stripped naked of form and presented in a narrative that seeks to mirror back to readers the underlying principle and central theme of all serious mystical & religious literature — the Unity of Being.
The book covers the following major spiritual topics:-
- The Meaning of Unity— of God and Man
- Beliefs
- Service & Knowledge
- The Universe: The Interior & Exterior
- The Divine Names
- Mercy
- Love & Beauty
- Consciousness, Ritual & Meaning
- Fate, Destiny & Freewill
- Closeness: Taste
All these are explored within the context of “Oneness” and from the point of view that this knowledge lies at the depths of the spiritual heart of each and every person—and by coming to understand & explore these matters the reader will necessarily commence their own journey of awakening .
The whole matter is placed in front of the reader in such a way as to enable them to come to their own understanding and ‘taste’ and develop their own unique ‘informed’ spirituality without having to adopt any particular belief or dogma, which in esoteric parlance is known as the ‘Private Face’— the Path to God without intermediary.
About the Person Who Serves this work
Steven has spent over 45 years on the spiritual path and has been taught and influenced by two important people. The first, the Shivapuri Baba, taught the necessity for living what he termed ‘Right Life’—the life Mankind lived before degenerating into needing any religious guidance.
The second, Bulent Rauf, brought into the English language the most authoritative translations of the works of Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi, a Spanish mystic who wrote especially for those who wish to find ‘in themselves’ the Truth without the need for religion or dogma. It was through the help of Bulent that Steven developed the first draft of the book.
Importantly, Bulent and the Shivapuri Baba have in common the fact that they each found the Truth directly, without any intermediary, and taught the direct approach to God through knowledge and taste, even though in the exterior they were from very different cultures.
In 2001 Steven went through a deep inner journey and more than two years of healing and transmission where, guided by the help of both his teachers, and many more, he was invited to meditate on the question “How does God become conscious of Himself” and thus resolve the riddle of “God” and “Myself”.
This breakthrough then brought about the completion of the book, including Part 2 where Steven explains the process he went through to prove the contents of this book for himself—with certainty.
Steven now lives in West Cork in south-west Ireland and is happy to respond to questions from readers . He can be contacted via this page.
